• What’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?
The main difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is that the former is hosted on WordPress’ server while the latter is hosted on an external server. WordPress.com is a great option for first-time bloggers as it simplifies your experience by not allowing you the choice of installing custom themes and plugins or adding code of your own.
WordPress.org allows you much more flexibility because you control where the site is hosted. You can install a variety of plugins, create custom themes and even edit the blog’s code directly.
• What’s the difference between HTML and CSS?
HTML is the language used to construct the entire website’s structure. CSS formats the style of the page to make the HTML look nice. It can align, decorate or position the HTML better than if you were to try using HTML alone.
• I am locked out of wp-admin, and my website shows a blank white screen
This most likely happens when you paste a code from a website with wrong formats. Sometimes the formatting error is done on the website where the code is available however most of the time, this error happens because you pasted the code on the wrong location. Unfortunately, you will not be able to make the edits using your wp-admin section. You will have to use FTP to login to your web host and modify your theme’s file.
• My site loads slow, How can I speed it up?
There are several things you can do to speed up your website. First thing you need to do is consider adding a caching plugin to WordPress. We use and recommend W3 Total Cache.
Another thing you can do is use a Content Delivery Network provider. We use and recommend MaxCDN. You should also consider using a better web hosting provider. Shared hosts are usually slower.
• How will I know if my site has been hacked?
You probably won’t know you’ve been hacked until it’s too late. If you notice that your traffic has significantly dropped, you see funny characters or strange links in your content, or your webpages suddenly stop showing up in the search results. Chances are your site has been hacked.
